The Senior Paralegal will provide legal privacy partnership and support on privacy matters to AbbVie legal privacy counsel as well as all of AbbVie's business functions and departments. This position is based in Lake County, IL.
Lead and manage privacy and security program projects and initiatives in collaboration with the privacy office compliance leads.
Provide support to HQ-based and international legal teams in addressing data privacy and security legal issues relevant to the AbbVie functions and departments they support.
Work as an integral part of the global legal privacy team and the privacy compliance office.
Manage and support the review and negotiation of privacy and security terms of service provider and vendor agreements.
Support AbbVie's third-party supplier evaluation program.
Independently manage and prioritize workload based upon internal and external time frames.
Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant legal education (Paralegal certificate).
5+ years experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department.
Basic understanding of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, controller-processor concepts, and international cross-border transfer requirements.
Experience dealing with lawyers and other stakeholders in a truly international setting.
Experience negotiating privacy and security terms in commercial agreements.
Contract drafting experience is not required but would be beneficial.
Proven track record of project and process development, implementation and project management, with minimal supervision required.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
IAPP certification is not required but a plus.
