BAE Systems, Inc. Intelligence & Security Sector is seeking an experienced lawyer to provide legal support to the Integrated Defense Solutions business area. The successful hire will ensure the business is in compliance with, and operates ethically within all relevant corporate and governmental directives, policies, regulations, and laws in its transactions and protect the company against potential claims and litigation. This positon is part of the Intelligence & Security Legal department. We provide a 9/80 or potentially a hybrid/remote flexible work schedule and support for development / training to further your legal expertise.
In this position, you will report directly to the Vice President and Chief Counsel, Intelligence & Security and be responsible for the following:
Ensuring that the Legal function is in full compliance with all corporate and governmental directives, ethics, policies, regulations, and laws;
Formulating and recommending operating policies and objectives or changes in existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate, ethics, governmental regulations, and laws;
Providing legal advice to business and management personnel;
Functioning as liaison between management and outside legal counsel;
Managing litigation support department objectives within established budget;
Participating in professional associations;
Developing and presenting training materials and courses for the employee workforce on a variety of legal and other functional topics;
Developing and demonstrating an expertise in laws and regulations that affect BAE Systems Inc. business;
Maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with safety objectives and policies;
Sharing responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
JD from an ABA accredited law school;
Admitted to practice law in a US jurisdiction required;
Eligible to be admitted to state bar as corporate counsel at primary work location, as applicable.
Key Job Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience with a major law firm or the federal government - Areas of Focus: Government Contracting;
In-depth knowledge of the FAR/DFARs and other relevant government contracting rules and regulations;
Problem Solving - anaytical thought needed to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations without supervision;
Nature of Impact - routinely impacts quality, timeliness of results, planning and revenues or budget and frequently sets policies and procedures;
Area of Impact - primarily sector wide;
Interpersonal skills - communicates sensitive information, modifies belief or opinions within a program or Business Area;
Negotiation Skills negotiates mainly internally, at higher levels, and occasionally with external relationships;
Senior Project/ Program team member responsible for workflow which is varied in nature with situations frequently requiring new solutions;
Strong oral and written communication skills as well as outstanding organizational and analytical skills;
Work independently, but collaboratively in a team setting while displaying a high level of self-direction and sound judgment;
Must be a self-starter, have a pro-active approach to address issues before they create legal exposure;
Able to handle a multitude of complex and challenging situations;
Desktop computer competency to include proficiency in Westlaw and MS Office Suite;
US Citizenship required - ability to obtain security clearance required.
