Senior Compliance Officer - Ethics

Senior Compliance Officer-Ethics-11017733Description  Based in New York, the Ethics Officer reports to Citi's Chief Ethics Officer within Global Compliance.  The Ethics Officers within Global Compliance interface with global businesses and regions and are responsible for the case management process and the development of Ethics and Code of Conduct policies, programs and training.   Thus, language skills, such as Spanish or Japanese, would be preferred.    Case Management:  These duties include, but are not limited to:

  • coordinate the timely investigation and effective management of all matters referred to the Ethics Office via the Ethics Hotline and the different Businesses;
  • provide direction and guidance to regional staff, Ethics liaisons and others performing ethics-related investigations around the world;
  • if needed, take active role in investigation, resolution and follow up of matters;
  • identify and report trends, significant matters and compliance issues to senior management;
  • prepare regular reports and metrics for distribution to senior management, auditors and regulators;
  • develop charts/analyze the highlighted trends, correlations and key issues;
  • actively participate in implementation of enhancements to internal automated case management system;
  • coordinate with subject matter experts in legal, business, risk and control and other areas in order to draft ethics related policies and procedures as needed;
  • make appropriate recommendations to improve controls and systems.

Training and Communications:  Design, implement and track periodic Ethics and Code of Conduct training for all Citi employees; develop and deliver appropriate additional training's when necessary; assist with revising the Code of Conduct and other Ethics policies and procedures as needed.  In addition, design, develop and publicize Ethics initiatives and messaging through appropriate vehicles, including the company intranet site. Qualifications

  We are seeking a qualified lawyer with a minimum of 7 years of litigation, corporate ethics or regulatory investigations experience, including familiarity with the financial services industry and products in a global, corporate environment.  The successful candidate will have outstanding writing and analytical skills, sound judgment, discretion, and an understanding of business processes.  Familiarity with the United States Sentencing Guidelines, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Dodd-Frank and related best practices is preferred.    Required Competencies:   •              Ability to establish and maintain credibility and trust throughout organization    •              Strong drafting skills, issue-spotting, risk recognition and escalation •              Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and create reports •              Strong technical skills (PowerPoint / Word/ Excel) in order to develop reports                that highlight trends, correlations and key issues •              Able to work independently as well as in a team •              Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written •              Fast thinker/ quick learner possessing ability to multi-task •              Ability to work closely and confidently with different levels of management •              Discretion and ability to protect confidential information •              Strategically oriented, innovative thinker, solid decision maker.
