Paralegal
The Experience Factor is helping a Large banking institution seek a strong Paralegal for an immediate 6+ month contract position. There is a permanent possibility for the right person. Will review collateral transactions; prepare collateral releases; order flood zones and map zones; track hazard insurance in CTS, etc. Must have 2+ years of paralegal experience; collateral and/or flood compliance experience preferred; solid software skills necessary. Position Summary:
Maintains and perfects collateral according to State statue requirements. Reviews and evaluates status of collateral. Prepares collateral releases. Inputs information into collateral tracking system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Orders UCC lien searches for verification of lien position.
- Performs custodial duties for specific types of personal property held in dual custody.
- Prepares collateral releases.
- Perfects collateral for non-complex transaction or with direction from senior associates for complex transactions.
- Performs data entry into department document tracking system.
- Enters new document information and maintains information in Collateral Tracking System (CTS).
- Prepares and forwards mortgage extension agreements to customers for signature.
- Maintains perfection of personal property collateral by preparing and filing UCC continuations and amendments.
- Maintains note files.
- Tracks hazard insurance in CTS and contacts the insurance company to obtained renewal certificates for expired insurance.
Assists Credit with inquiries related to collateral documents in vital records files.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills
High school diploma and paralegal certification or 2-3 years experience in banking or financial services industry; or appropriate combination of education and experience. Associate’s degree preferred.
MUST have experience reading flood maps and determining insurability
Experience working with collateral transactions and ability to read and interpret legal terminology in loan and security documents.
Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize workload and balance multiple, changing priorities.
Ability to work independently and take initiative to solve problems.
Intermediate knowledge of personal computers and software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
Must be detail-oriented.
