Legal Specialist (O16) or
Legal Specialist II (O17) or
Legal Specialist Sr (O18)

This position is responsible for providing legal support services for multiple states and enterprise-wide functions through complex legal assignments and projects related to the Company's managed health care plan operations. The primary focus of this position includes, but is not limited to, providing legal support services for medical and specialty insured and self-funded products and operations, care management functions such as utilization management, case management and disease management, provider and vendor contracting and initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and the maintenance of medical policy. This position utilizes knowledge of health plan industry laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing standards, and company policies and procedures.

The types of duties applicable to this position include, but are not limited to, the preparation, analysis, and/ or evaluation of contracts, legal memorandum, policies and procedures, regulatory filings, business transactions, legal research, and training materials. This position recommends appropriate course of action and next steps, performs fact checking, gathers documents, and responds to subpoenas, record requests, and inquiries from various internal and external sources. In connection with regulatory and other legal matters, this role coordinates certain investigative and discovery activities.

As legislation affecting the corporation is enacted this position prepares regulatory summaries and develops and/or implements recommendations relative to changes in regulations, laws and accreditation and licensing requirements. While performing job duties, this position assists with regulatory governance and compliance issues on an ongoing basis. This position may also provide support for other operations, initiatives and processes and different duties, as assigned.



Requirements:

Requires strong project management, analytical, research, problem-solving and negotiation skills. The role requires working well in the team environment, being action oriented, and having initiative. This position will utilize document, matter management and other systems as applicable in the performance of their job duties.

Legal Specialist (O16)
Requires a high school diploma or GED; 2-5 years of responsible and effective legal or other relevant work experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS degree in a related field preferred.

Legal Specialist II (O17)
Requires Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS degree in a related field; 5-10 years of responsible and effective legal or other relevant work experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

or

Legal Specialist Sr (O18)
Requires Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS degree in a related field; 10 years of responsible and effective legal or other relevant work experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
