    Nestlé USA, Inc. is seeking an experienced attorney to assist in the oversight and management of litigation on behalf of the U.S. affiliate of the world's leading food, beverage and health and wellness company. This position plays an important strategic role for Nestlé USA in protecting corporate assets and reputation through both the defense of litigation brought against the company, monitoring the litigation landscape for potential threats to the company's interests, enforcing it's rights against third parties, and leading a robust recovery practice. Ideal candidates will be able to understand, break down and explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers and excel at delivering high quality, actionable, and timely legal advice.

    Reporting to the company's Head of Litigation and Sr. Advisor on Global Litigation, this position can be located either in Nestlé USA's Arlington, Virginia headquarters or its Solon, Ohio campus.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    As the company's expert in litigation matters, this person will be responsible for:

    • Early assessment of all threatened and pending litigation

    • Development and implementation of successful litigation and case resolution strategies

    • Selection and active management of outside legal counsel

    • Ensuring consistency of overall approach to litigation management and implementation of Group litigation strategy

    • Advising the Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting of litigation risks and spend

    • Advising C-suite level executives on important litigation related decisions confronting the company

    • Working closely with our Media and Government Relations teams to protect the company from reputational risks associated with high profile litigation

    • Working closely and collaboratively with business lawyers (Division General Counsel) and other legal specialists such as the company's employment, regulatory and IP lawyers

    • Working closely and collaboratively with parent company lawyers located in Vevey, Switzerland

    • Directing and supervising the company's e-discovery efforts

    • Reviewing and editing legal briefs and motions to be filed on behalf of the company

    • Management, supervision, and deployment of company litigation paralegals

    • Tracking and optimizing litigation spend; identifying and using IT tools to facilitate cost-effectiveness

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • JD from accredited law school

    • Current bar membership

    • Strong background in all facets of litigation including participation depositions, hearings, and trials

    • The ability to challenge and appropriately question experienced outside litigation counsel to test their positions and recommendations

    • Minimum of 7 years of experience

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience representing a food and beverage company in litigation

    • Experience in managing a large nationwide portfolio of complex commercial litigation

    SKILLS:

    • Courageous, business-savvy attorney who works to find solutions to complex challenges

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines

    • Demonstrated ability to gain trust at and work with all levels of an organization

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues and concepts to non-lawyers

    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and team members

    • Experience conducting live trainings, and developing online trainings, on the topics of social media and other areas of digital media and other online business activities

    • High level of analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills, and the ability to solve problems proactively and with business acumen

    • Excellent project management skills

    • Detail-oriented, possess strong ability achieve results, and have superior initiative
