As chief legal officer for the IDB, s/he is responsible for advising the Board of Governors, Board of Executive Directors, President, and Management on all legal matters relating to the Bank. Oversees the range of legal services provided by the Legal Department and ensures that IDB activities are in compliance with its policies. Leads a Department of approx. 65 employees.
Ideal candidate is a seasoned, innovative senior attorney with experience advising Boards and CEOs, and a strong people manager. Substantive legal expertise in both common and civil law required, as well as a law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from an accredited university and admission to the Bar or equivalent in at least one jurisdiction in an IDB member country; at least 15+ yrs. relevant experience, with 10 yrs. at international senior leadership level. English & Spanish proficiency required. Knowledge and/or experience in Latin America and the Caribbean essential.
