    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:Due to our exceptional growth and success, Ankura is seeking a Deputy General Counsel EMEA in London to join our team. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel EMEA will have oversight for all EMEA legal matters, including general corporate law, commercial contracts, employment law, regulatory, litigation, intellectual property protection, commercial transactions, compliance, and mergers and acquisitions. She or he will regularly interface with the EMEA executive leadership team and will provide direction, guideance and assistance on legal and regulatory matters in addition to day-to-day engagements and will coordinate and communicate with other regional legal heads as well as business leaders around the world. The Deputy General Counsel EMEA will work closely with the U.S. legal team to ensure excellence and consistence in legal advice and counsel globally. The Deputy General Counsel EMEA will be a hands-on leader with management experience, who will help to oversee and develop the legal function and oversee the legal and compliance aspects of the business in EMEA.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Performance objectives in this position are as follows:• Manage the negotiation, drafting, review, execution, and archiving of a wide variety of agreements, including engagement letters, confidentiality agreements and vendor agreements• Provide innovative and business-oriented legal counsel and execution of significant EMEA matters• Ensure that the General Counsel is advised of any new EMEA legislation or regulation which may significantly affect the Company• Work collaboratively with the General Counsel to define a strategy for the legal Department. Help set priorities and build the infrastructure to deliver on that strategy• Manage and oversee the preparation of regulatory filings, licensing and reporting requipments, where applicable• Engage in issue spotting, risk assessment and problem solving on a daily basis• Provide strong transactional legal advice• Provide advice and counsel in various areas of the law, including general corporate, litigation, employment, regulated entities, cyber, patent and trademark• Establish and promote a collaborative partnership with internal clients

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • LLB or equivalent foreign degree and admitted to practice law in the UK• Significant U.S. legal experience• Minimum 12+ years' experience in a law firm and/or in-house position• Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize and organize workload• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills• Ability to assess and manage risk• Comfortable in highly collaborative environment• Ability to easily network and build relationship with colleagues and external clients• Strong analytic and interpersonal skills• Strong leadership ability
