Director of Business Valuation, Litigation Support, and Forensic Accounting Progressive regional CPA firm is currently searching for a Director of Business Valuation, Litigation Support, and Forensic Accounting in their Silicon Valley office, located in San Jose. San Francisco based candidates can be offered a flexible schedule for meetings in San Jose. Candidates must be very strong in practice development with an already established book of business in the Silicon Valley s firm is very entrepreneurial and consulting oriented, and has been ranked among the best CPA firms to work for in the U. S. Clients include both SEC and closely held corporations, along with high net worth individuals in a variety of industries. They are a great alternative to the Big 4 for prospective Partners, Managers, and employees, as well as clients seeking more personalized service. They do not maintain a high stress, demanding corporate culture, and employees are not treated as a number or one of the masses. Work environment is not at all typical of the public accounting grind and they offer a very reasonable work/life balance. Competitive compensation and benefits package includes Big-4 level salaries with unlimited upside potential for Partners, large bonuses for Directors and Managers, paid overtime at time and a half for Seniors, and profit sharing at all levels. Local candidates are preferred, however, sign-on bonuses may be available to assist exceptional out of town candidates with their relocation costs. Summary: Our Director / Senior Manager is developing greater leadership skills and continuously taking on greater responsibilities and the capacity to assist in a variety of areas, including but not limited to engagement management & client service, sales, practice development, marketing, cross selling, discipline & industry expertise, external activities & networking, leadership, people development and strategic planning. Support the Firms partners in: Forensic Accounting which oversees the process of discovery of fraud and defalcation, auditing of books and records, evaluation of internal controls. Understands the traits and schemes of persons that perpetrate fraud. Business Valuation which oversees the process of the valuation of closely held business interests. Oversees the process of valuation for mergers and acquisitions, Fairness Opinions, Employee Stock Option Plans (ESOPs), estate and tax planning, buy/sell agreements, purchase price allocation and litigation support purposes. Assignments provide exposure to a wide range of companies from local retail stores to large corporate entities operating in variety of industries. Litigation Support which oversees the process of economic analysis of past and prospective damage calculations. Must be familiar with analytical tools such as flow-charting, regression and present value. Must have qualified as an expert and testified in a court of law or in an arbitration or mediation on a least three occasions. Essential Functions:1. Serves as a subject matter expert in a variety of areas of Forensic accounting, litigation support and valuation services.2. Develops forensic accounting expertise and stays abreast of current news; contributes to staff development by sharing technical knowledge.3. Manage staff on multiple projects.4. Develop work plan and ensure completion of milestones.5. Execute client service plans in a manner that ensures that commitments are met, potential problems anticipated, and surprises avoided.6. Prepare work plans, time budgets, and client information requests.7. Review reports of other FAVLS professionals in the firm.8. Report preparation9. Analyze financial information, received from subject companies.10. Appropriately manages risk and ensures quality control procedures are being executed on all engagement activities. 11. Ensures efficient and profitable execution of engagement financial management.12. Builds client relationships and maintains sooth working relationships with client.13. Review and analyze historical financial and industry information, revenue and expense projections, insurance claim evaluations, damage evaluations and negotiating settlements.14. Recognizes complex technical issues, reaches appropriate conclusions and applies authority to support conclusions.15. Research and analyze public companies, industry, and economic information.16. Assist in the preparation of financial projections, when required.17. Visit company site(s), when required.18. Prepare requests for information, interrogatories and discovery data.19. Ensures top quality client service and oversees total engagement activity. Oversees the effort of multiple client engagements; plans, executes, directs, and completes projects and services in a wide variety of industries; and manages budgets. Nonessential Functions:1. Business writing, communication, management, organization, administrative and people skills.6. Excellent research skills.7. Thorough knowledge of financial modeling and valuation methodologies.8. Must have demonstrated progressively higher levels of responsibility working with multi-disciplinary project teams and supervising and developing staff. Ability to drive coordination and alignment around engagements initiatives to create both client benefit and Firm value. 9. Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Supervisory Responsibilities:1. Works to develop responsible, trained staff by participating in performance evaluations, developing training aids, and acting as an instructor and a coach in professional development programs. Working Conditions:1. Occasional same day travel for work at clients offices, meetings, and seminars using personal vehicle.2. Overtime work required throughout the year. 3. Minimal Hazards. General office working conditions. Minimum Qualifications:1. BA in finance or accounting; MBA, CPA, ASA, or CFA preferred.2. 4+ years experience in forensic accounting, litigation support and/or business valuation or as a securities analyst.3.
