We are seeking a candidate with a thorough, extensive knowledge of laws governing health and welfare benefits programs. To fulfill this role the Attorney will:
Provide consulting on legal, technical and compliance matters related to employer-sponsored health care and group benefits programs
Draft plan documents and review summary plan descriptions
Serve as the recognized legal expert for the Midwest Health & Benefits Consulting team and participate as a member of the Regulatory Resources Group
Work with client HR managers, their outside legal counsel and other Mercer consultants and actuaries
Participate in sales and marketing teams presenting Mercers services and capabilities to prospective clients.
JD degree required
Six or more years experience in law firm, accounting firm or consulting environment counseling large corporate plan sponsors on health and group benefits compliance
Subject matter knowledge of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, Medicare, COBRA, FMLA and HIPAA requirements related to welfare plans
Strong analytical, strategic planning, communication and listening skills.
