    LOCATION: This role offers remote/hybrid work flexibility. Our ideal candidate will live within commuting distance to one of our office locations and have the ability to participate in in-office meetings and collaboration, as needed. Office locations include Baltimore, MD or Washington D.C.

    PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

    This position leads Constellation's retail regulatory and compliance legal team. Key responsibilities include advising on legal regulatory and policy matters relating to retail energy product offerings across the country, handling compliance issues and enforcement matters, providing leadership and mentorship to the broader retail legal regulatory and compliance team, and interfacing with and advising key leaders and stakeholders throughout the commercial organization.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Performs as a specialist in one or more fields of law, provides technical and expert legal services to Constellation Business Units. Under little or no supervision, plans, conducts and supervises large and highly complex legal assignments; evaluates both legal and business risks and advises clients accordingly; represents Constellation in transactions, litigation or other relevant matters. Provides legal counsel to all levels of management, including senior management. (70%)

    • Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff. (15%)

    • Prepare, and revise as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel. (10%)

    • Projects / duties as assigned. (5%)

    JOB SCOPE

    • Provides legal advice and representation on complex regulatory and compliance matters

    • Demonstrates superior business knowledge and legal judgment

    • Strong leadership skills; management experience preferred

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.

    • At least 10-12 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law.

    • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments.

    • Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal and/or state law.
